Head Baseball Coach - Jeff Tenbarge
Jeff Tenbarge started out as an assistant coach in 1998 and took over as head coach in 2008. In 2008, the Celtics claimed the district championship and a regional quarterfinal win along with a state ranking of 7th in 2A before being eliminated in the semifinals. In 2009, the Celtics made it to the “Elite 8 in the State” earning a trip to the regional finals. Coach Tenbarge was named District 12 2A Coach of the Year as well as being named all area Coach of the Year by the Naples Daily News. Before being named head coach, Tenbarge had served as an assistant coach and pitching coach since 1998.
"Coach T" was raised in Evansville, Indiana and attended Memorial High School where he was a part of the 1989 State Champion baseball team. He was coached by legendary-Indiana Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, Coach Quentin Merkel. Coach T. went on to play baseball at Wabash Valley Junior College earning his Associates in Science degree. He then went on to play baseball at Division I, University of Evansville for Coach Jim Brownlee. While pitching for U of E, Tenbarge had the fortune to have Sal Fasano as his catcher. Sal is a MLB veteran catcher since 1999. Coach T. gives Sal credit for his success as a player and as a coach, "Sal taught me how to refine my baseball skills, be confident and be ultra-positive." Tenbarge stated. After spending 1 year at U of E, Tenbarge was drafted in the 6th round of the 1992 MLB draft by the Houston Astros organization. He spent 2 years in minor league ball being coached by former pros Jack Billingham, Norm Strom, Jim Hickey, Bob Cluck, Cesar Cedeno, Bobby Ramos, Steve Dillard, and Bill Kelso. After his playing career ended, Tenbarge attended Western Carolina University, where he graduated cum laude with a B.S. degree in Physical Education. Western Carolina awarded Tenbarge with the Alice Benton National Association for Sport and Physical Education award as best Physical Education major. Tenbarge was recognized by the College of Education at
Western Carolina with the Outstanding Prospective
Teacher award.
Coach Tenbarge has served as the Athletic Director, Physical Education teacher at neighboring St. Elizabeth Seton School (PK-8) since 2007. Tenbarge enjoys the opportunity to work at both Seton and St. John Neumann High School in the areas of athletics. Tenbarge states, "Athletics serves as a great avenue to teaching character, morals, and all life skills". He is married to wife Beth, who teaches at St. Elizabeth Seton, he has two children, Sarah and Tucker. Tenbarge enjoys playing golf and working on the St. John Neumann High School baseball field in his spare time. Assistant Baseball Coach is John Gulley and Chuck Sowers.

Head Basketball Coach - Tony Grasso
Anthony J. Grasso, better known on campus as "Coach Grasso," is the Head Boys Basketball Coach for St. John Neumann High School. His coaching experience began in 1974, and, in 1978, he won the first of many championships in basketball. In 1979, he also became a soccer coach. From 1984 through 1999, he continued at Xaverian High School in Brooklyn where his basketball, soccer and handball teams won championships.
For Coach Grasso, coaching and teaching go hand in hand. “The integrity of the classroom carries over to the court,” Grasso explains. “The accountability of the coach is not only to develop athletic abilities, but also to teach responsibility and decision making to student-athletes that will enable them to become better equipped to deal with the rigors of college and adult life.”
The St. John Neumann High School varsity team has held many records since 2000, capturing consecutive District Championships in 2002 and 2003 and repeating in 2006. The 2003 team advanced to the Regional Finals, the furthest the Boys Varsity has ever advanced in the playoffs. His peers have recognized Coach Grasso. Receiving the FACA Section 16 Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2003 then in the Naples Daily News as Coach of the Year for all sports in 2003, adding to numerous similar awards that he received in New York.
Assistant Basketball Coach/JV Head Coach - John Wholihan
Coach John Wholihan, a retired NYFD firefighter, began his high school basketball-coaching career in New York City in 1994. He was the first Varsity Basketball coach at Petrides High School in Staten Island where he started a demanding program. Coach Wholihan and his wife, Donna, decided to relocate to SW Florida eight years ago. This is Coach Wholihan's seventh year as an assistant in our program. Coach Wholihan also assists in the Football program. Son Shane, a 2006 St. John Neumann High School Alumni, is a junior at Florida Southern College after playing Basketball and Football for the Celtics. Son Brandon, a 2009 St. John Neumann High School Alumni, is an active participant in Celtic Athletics. Assistant Basketball Coaches are John Bowe, Mike Giusto and Pete Meurer.

Boys Head Soccer and Tennis Coach - Andy Cangelosi
Coach Cangelosi has been at St. John Neumann since 2004. He has been married since 1987 and has two children. He is also the head coach of the ice hockey club and assists with football and boys soccer. He is a 1982 graduate of Villanova University.

Head Cross Country Coach /Head Track & Field Coach - Mike Olayos
Mike Olayos began coaching at St. John Neumann High School in 1993 as Head Coach of the Boys and Girls Cross Country program. The following year saw him bring a state runner-up finish for the Boys Cross Country team. In 1995, Coach "O" oversaw the beginning of a Track program at the school, which has since produced several individual state champions as well as a first ever Regional title for the boys in 2008. Cross Country, Basketball, and Track teams have amassed a total of 25 district titles during Coach Olayos' tenure. His last two Girls Basketball teams in 2001 and 2002 were ranked in the top 10 in the state, and he was voted Southwest Florida 1A or 2A Coach of the Year since 1999. In 2008 Coach "O" was honored as the Southwest Florida Coach of the Year, in Track by both the Naples News and the News Press.
The year following graduation found Coach Olayos in NYC, where he started the Cross Country and Track programs at The Franklin School on the upper west side of Manhattan. During his stay in the Big Apple, his teams notched a 1980 Private School Freshman State Championship in Cross Country, and the 1979 AA State Championship in Basketball, with a State Record 29 win season. While in New York, Mike was fortunate to earn a grant to do graduate study at the
Teacher’s College of Columbia University. Assistant Track & Field Coach is Mike Pletnick, Phillip Turner, and Derek Woods. Assistant Cross Country Coach is Andy Cangelosi.

Athletic Director/Head Football Coach - Steve Howey
Coach Howey has been on the gridiron since 1984 and the Head Coach of the St. John Neumann Celtics. The 2009 football team had a winning season of 7-2 with their post season ending in the Regional quarterfinal game. The Celtics are again anticipating an exciting new year.
Originally, from New Jersey, Coach Howey has made South Florida his home since 1986. Prior to coming to St. John Neumann High School, Coach Howey was the Head Coach of the Gulliver Preparatory School Raiders football program, leading them to four district championships, a regional championship, and a state championship.
Coach Howey brings a career record of 83 and 36, with an impressive 8 and 5 record in the state playoffs. Additionally, Coach Howey was District Coach of the Year 3 out of the 5 years he served as Head Coach for the Raiders. In 2006, Coach Howey received the Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 16 Coach of the Year honor. He has also held assistant coaching positions in track and field, girl's and boy's basketball and baseball. Coach Howey holds a BA in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University. He was a 2-year varsity tennis player for the university. Assistant Football Coaches are Alfredo Molina, Henry Fernandez, John Bowe, Derek Woods, and Joe Skladany.

Head Basketball Coach - Shannon McFee
Coach McFee has been a member of the St. John Neumann family since 1982 when he enrolled as a freshman in what would be the third graduating class of St. John Neumann High School. Upon graduating from St. John Neumann High School in 1986, Coach McFee entered the University of South Florida where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. Coach McFee received his law degree from Florida State University in 1992 and became a member of the Florida Bar in 1993.
Upon returning to Naples as a prosecutor in the Office of the State Attorney, Coach McFee was hired in 1993 as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach where he remained for three seasons before resigning to spend more time with his family and focus on his private law practice. Coach McFee has never really gotten out of the high school sports scene; a hobby of his has been to officiate high school football and basketball games.
In 2004, Coach McFee again returned to St. John Neumann High School as the Girls' Varsity Basketball Coach, and it is a position he is extremely excited to hold. The team posted a 17-11 record and built some great memories in the process.
Coach McFee is married to Michele (Mankowski) McFee who graduated from St. John Neumann High School in 1985. Mrs. McFee was the Cheerleading Coach at St. John Neumann High School from 1993-1997, and shares Coach McFee's love for the school. Together, they have four daughters who all look forward to being Celtics!
Assistant Girls Basketball Coach - John Gulley
Coach Gulley graduated from St. John Neumann High School in 1996. While at St. John Neumann High School, he played for Coach McFee. After graduation, Coach Gulley served in the Army and attended college. Upon graduation from college, he returned to St. John Neumann High School and currently teaches Computer, World History, and Social Justice for his alma mater. Mr. Gulley also coaches football and baseball for the St. John Neumann High School Celtic Sport Teams. Assistant Coach/Head JV is Ellen Keegan.

Head Soccer Coach Ray Grzywinski
Coach Ray Grzywinski started his soccer-coaching career in 1974, coaching both boys' and girls' club teams every year until his move to Naples. After thirty-four years as a carpenter with Rohm and Haas Co., Coach Grzywinski retired and took a position with Bensalem High School in Bucks County, PA. There he coached girls' soccer at junior varsity and varsity levels. In 2000, Coach Grzywinski moved to Naples
and did some coaching on Marco Island and for the Optimist league.
Since 2004 Coach Grzywinski has been with the girls' soccer program here at St. John Neumann High School. Grzywinski hails from Philadelphia, Pa. and is happily married to his wife, Marlene since 1964. They have a son, Steven, a daughter, Stacy, and five grandchildren.

Girls Head Golf Coach - Shelley Raley
As head coach of the Lady Celtics Golf Team, 2009 is her first season. Shelley Raley was born in Maryland. She and her three siblings are all graduates of Saint John Neumann High School. While at Saint John Neumann, she played basketball, softball, and golf. She did stats for the baseball and volleyball teams. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Celtic Friends.

Assistant Girls Golf Coach is Courtney Figueroa
St. John Neumann High School alum, Courtney Figueroa who was named Naples Daily News Player of the Year while playing high school golf. Courtney is eager to assist the team members to improve their skills and enjoy their time together on the course and driving range.
Boys Head Golf Coach - Richard Packish Jr.
Richie was born in November 1967 and raised in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. He attended and graduated from New Hampshire College in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1987.
Richie moved to Naples, Florida in 1990 and married his wife, Kathleen in September 1995. He has two children Alysha Marie and Richard Packish III (Buddy). His love of golf is what moved him to SW Florida and he has been involved in the industry ever since.
He became a Class A PGA Member in April 2000 and has been with Spanish Wells Golf and Country Club in Bonita Springs since 1999. He has been the Head Golf Professional for the club since 1999 and owner of RPs Pro Shop at Spanish Wells since 2006.
When not at home or on the golf course, Richie enjoys working out. He loves bicycling, running and lifting weights (all with the intention of improving his golf game). He currently is a scratch golfer and participates in many PGA sponsored tournaments. He and his family attend St. John the Evangelist Church and his children attend St. Elizabeth Seton School.

Head Softball Coach - Joe Dise
Coach Dise, originally from Philadelphia, has been involved with coaching Softball since 1997. A Florida resident since 2003, Coach Dise enjoys time with his family and working on building our Lady Celtics softball program into an area leader. Dise has three children; Meghan (2nd Base, St. John Neumann High School 2009 Alumni), Joe (St. John Neumann High School 2012), and Alexandra (Team Manager and Future Celtic St. John Neumann High School 2014), and lives with his wife, Erin in Bonita Springs.
Assistant Softball Coach - Dave Wallace
Coach Dave Wallace has lived in Naples since 1966. He has been married to his wife Tami since 1981, and has four children, Jessica, Sarah, Gage, and Kali. Coach Wallace has coached Softball since 1994, and was a coach at Barron Collier High School, when his daughter, Sarah played 2nd base there. He enjoys fishing and being with his family. Coach Dave looks forward to being a part of our St. John Neumann High School softball program and making it into one of the best in the area.

Head Swimming Coach – Rich Degalan
Rich DeGalan has been the Head Coach here at St. John Neumann High School since 2001. Coach DeGalan graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting in 1983. While at Millikin he was a four year letterman in swimming and was an All American in 1982. Rich also qualified for and competed in NCAA Nationals in 1981, 1982 and 1983. Coach DeGalan held school records in both the 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard breaststroke. After college, Coach DeGalan worked as an accountant for 10 years in the Chicago area and was an Assistant Coach for the Lake Region YMCA Swim Team in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Coach DeGalan moved to Naples in 1993, where he accepted a swim coach/supervisor position at the Golden Gate Aquatic Facility. In 1994, he started the Golden Gate Swim Team, and in 1995, that team merged with Swim Florida. St. John Neumann High School added swimming to its list of sports programs in 1997 and Coach DeGalan was hired as Head Coach. Since 2001, several of St. John Neumann High School swimmers and relay teams have been sent to the Florida State Swimming Championships, and he looks forward to many more successful seasons as Head Coach.Assistant Coach is Nicole Sullivan.

Head Volleyball Coach/Assistant Athletic Director - Chris Addeo
Coach Addeo, who is originally from New York, ran track at the University of Miami. While on the track team, he was part of the hurdle relay team that set a new UM school record. Coach Addeo started coaching track at Gulliver Prep in 1992 as the assistant. In 1998, his team won the State 3A Girls Championship. He became the Head Coach at Gulliver Prep from 2000-2002. Along with his track commitments, he also assisted the Varsity Volleyball team and was the JV Head Coach during his years at Gulliver Prep.

Coach Addeo has been at St. John Neumann High School 2005, and as head coach since 2006. He was named Coach of the Year for the Naples Volleyball Association for the 2006 season and is a member of the United States Volleyball Association.
